Abstract: We have carried out a comprehensive study on the photoionization and fragmentation of Cr(CO)6 by using the time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS) technique with a synchrotron radiation source in the spectral region of 300-1600 A. Parent ion Cr(CO)6+ and its CO- elimination fragment ions Cr(CO)n+(n=0-5), the carbides CrC+ and CrC(CO)+ and the doubled charged ions Cr(CO)n2+(n=1-3) were produced.
