| Abstract: | Design of interactive distributed multimedia applications involves many complicated issues like media synchronization, presentation scheduling, determination of quality of service (QOS) requirements, user interactions and operational variations in the distributed real time environment. System supports and development tools that allow programmers to easily write their multimedia applications, to model and analyze behaviors of the applications and to verify program correctness against the specified requirements are highly desirable.
In this research, we proposed and developed an integrated distributed multimedia system and development environment for writing, modeling, analyzing and execution of interactive distributed multimedia applications. The distributed multimedia environment includes an object-oriented distributed multimedia run-time system, an application modeling tool, an application behavior analyzer and an automatic specification-to-program translation tool.
This paper describes the system architecture of the integrated distributed multimedia environment, our early prototype and experience. |
