|Abstract: ||The authors of this paper present a study which investigates practical Chinese writing needs. The aims of the study were threefold. Firstly, they wished to investigate whether Hong Kong students' perceptions of the need for learning practical Chinese writing have changed since the 1997 handover. Secondly, they wished to determine what the learners' difficulties were, and which of these could best be dealt with through a computer-assisted learning package. Their third objective was to collect students' views on the use of the computer for learning practical Chinese writing. The views of all 692 HKUST students taking Putonghua or practical Chinese writing were collected via questionnaires. The research confirms that the majority of the university students' Chinese writing standard is at only a marginally acceptable level. An overwhelming majority of the respondents perceived the need for written Chinese in their future careers and expressed an interest in learning it via computer.
由於中港兩地的交往日趨頻繁，中文文書在社會中的地位更顯重要。為了讓學生更快速地、有效地提高中文書寫的能力，使現代漢語實用寫作課程配合學生的需要，本文作者對以下三個方面作一探討：(1) 在九七年香港回歸後，學生是否對學習實用中文寫作的需要有緊迫感；(2) 學生在實用中文寫作中存在哪些困難及問題，是否可利用電腦協助解決這些困難；(3) 學生對使用電腦學習實用中文寫作的看法。本文作者以問卷形式，對香港科技大學的692位學生進行了調查，就以上三個有關問題的數據加以分析研究，結果顯示，大部份學生的中文寫作水平均未如理想，而他們對使用電腦輔助學習中文寫作也表示興趣。調查結果同時確定了以電腦配合實用中文寫作，是今後中文文書寫作課程發展的方向。|
