| Authors: | Smallwood, Ian M. |
| Keywords: | Vocabulary size ESL students |

| Abstract: | I describe the reasoning behind, and initial stages of, research into the development of a method of analysing and estimating the probable size of an individual's lexicon──both what are often termed the 'productive' and the 'receptive' lexicons (Nation 1982:19). I will also give an outline of future research into the analytic techniques employed. |
