| Abstract: | The impression from the library search is that not much empirical study has been conducted on China’s emerging private economies. Theoretical accounts, on the other hand, are more tied to the general questions about the changing system of social stratification in which private entrepreneurs are a rising social group. We classify most interesting studies and associated views into three accounts and will suggest a few questions for further research. |
