| Abstract: | This thesis aims at analyzing Wang Chong-yang's philosophy, focusing on his Doctrine of Mind and Nature. Wang Chong-yang was the founder of Quan Zhen Dao, which is widely accepted as one of the most important schools of Daoism in Chinese history.
Wang Chong-yang's philosophy can be divided into three parts, namely xing gong, ming gong and zhen xing. Xing gong can also be treated as the core of Wang's Doctrine of Mind and Nature, which is the determinative factor of being enlightened. Ming gong and zhen xing, however, are the supplementary factors. Therefore, this thesis will focus on analyzing xing gong, including its meaning, the methods of purifying the mind, and the characteristics of an enlightened person. |
