| Title: | Genetic algorithm group additive synthesis |
| Authors: | Cheung, Ngai-man |
| Issue Date: | 1995 |
| Abstract: | This work introduces an automated genetic algorithm-based method for decomposing a musical instrument tone into group additive synthesis parameters. With these parameters, we can take advantage of intuitive control afforded by the group additive synthesis and reconstruct the sound or a modification of it. Existing group additive research has used only hand-determination of the parameters. We have tested the procedure on trumpet, guitar and tenor voice tones with good results, and compared these results to those of other wavetable matching methods. |
