Issue Date 1994-04
Summary According to the 1989 Government White Paper on the environment, suspended particulate matter is one of the most serious pollution problems in Hong Kong. Government figures show that about 44% of the airborne particulate matter is emitted by diesel-powered vehicles. Diesel-powered vehicles are widely used in Hong Kong because they have high thermal efficiency and are more lax on fuel requirements. Both of these factors translate into better fuel economy.
