Summary Hong Kong University Science and Technology (HKUST) researchers have developed a novel process for adding carbon nanotubes to ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers in order to improve their strength. The technology effectively aligns nanotubes along the length of the fibers. Applications include lighweight bullet-proof vests and durable nautical rope.
