Summary Carbon nanotubes have attracted much interesting among scientists. The intractability of the carbon nanotubes, however, poses an obstacle to the further development in nanotube science and significantly limits the scope of their practical applications. Solubilization of the nanotubes will not only open up new avenues in nanotube research but also endow the nanotubes with processibility and generate novel nanomaterials with intriguing electronic, optical, and magnetic properties. In this work, we report a simple method for preparing soluble polyphenylacetylene-wrapped nanotubes (NT/PPA).
