||This thesis describes an authoring and delivery framework to manage human interaction for interactive systems. The content is defined by a segment-based approach which captures the relationships between consecutive possible content paths. With this formalism, reactive, linear and customized presentation can be authored and delivered. The dynamics of interactivity is enabled by an extensible collection of events, conditions and keyword-annotated materials. Sequencing decisions are made on the basis of overall structure laid by the author, and the association emerges from the user actions along the material presentations. This method accepts at each point in time a set of interactions from the user. The system then analyzes these interactions to identify and match the predefined conditions. The best matching segment will be selected to continue the flow of presentation. We also describe a method for multiple media presentation for segments that links media elements from the database to appropriate hardware devices. The interactive content structure support the creation of engaging stories, tutorials or presentations that are meaningfully interactive.
