Summary Co nanoarrays with Periodic hexagonal structure is prepared by magnetron sputtering technology based on colloidal crystal monolayer template, the morphology and the optical properties are measured. The optical absorption peak depends on the geometry parameters of hollow sphere structure, the absorption peak can be tuned in large scale (770-1270 nm) by changing the size of hollow sphere, and also fine-adjusted by changing the thickness of hollow sphere. In addition, the size and thickness of hollow sphere can be tuned by selecting suitable colloidal crystal templates (600-1000 nm) and controlling the time of deposition. This structure and its unique optical properties may have potential applications in optical device, photonic crystal and sensors. ©, 2015, Journal of Functional Materials. All right reserved.
