||Academic libraries face rapid changes and tremendous amount of challenges in the 21st century. Challenges arise from at least four different dimensions, including the environment, technology, customers and internal processes. In response, this paper focuses on how academic libraries need to position themselves in these changing environments by anchoring on their foundational core missions. It first discusses 12 pertinent challenges in these four dimensions. The second part focuses on how academic libraries revolutionize and realign in six fundamental areas. The author will illustrate with some good practices and experiences in these revolutionary and repositioning processes.
